Well, a little over two weeks ago, my husband had a meeting at work to find out if he was on the list. I was trying to have a normal morning and get us ready for story time. Before breakfast, I got a text from my husband saying that he was getting laid off. I was sad, sad for my husband who had given so much to his job and worked so hard every day. I also had a heavy heart for those friends and staff who were laid off as well. Some had been there for a long time. Change is not always good for everyone involved. Unfortunately, there is no unemployment for church employees. Even though we knew it was a possibility, the reality hit us hard.
I can't talk about the details, but God has us covered financially for the next several months. We know that He will provide for us and our family. He has already provided some short term work for my husband. We trust that all things happen for a reason and that when God shuts one door, another one will open. It might not be in our timing, but we know that God will continue to take care of us during and after this trying time. We are excited to see what God has in store for my husband's career and for our family.
I share this with you because this is a big life change for us. One that we probably would not have made on our own, but one that we know God will see us through.
This verse came to mind and was shared by family and friends:
Philippians 4:6-7 New International Version (NIV)
