About twice a month, our local library does a Music and Motion class on Tuesday mornings. The class is free and the staff is great! Sweet Girl was a bit shy when we first started attending over a year ago, but now she's all over the place. We always have a lot of fun when we go. The class is for ages two and up, but Love Bug has always tagged along. Now that Love Bug is older, she likes to get in on the action, too!
Class starts off with a warm-up song with stretching and wiggling. This is nice for those who are trickling in late because Miss Anna hasn't started the "real" songs yet. Miss Anna leads the group in several songs that get the children (and parents) singing and moving. Typically, there is some sort of instrument (rhythm sticks or shaky eggs) or manipulative (bean bag or scarf) for everyone to use with at least one of the songs. My girls love this part! At the end of class, everyone gets a stamp on their hand.
Here's a glimpse of what class was like today when we got scarves to dance with. :)
We love the activities and events our local library system offers. We actually plan our other events around them!
Have you checked out what your local library has to offer? You might be surprised at what fun and educational things they have for both children and adults.
