There are a number of Touch-a-Truck events coming to our area.  The basic premise behind these events is that you and your family get the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of big trucks which include fire trucks, construction vehicles and buses!

While some of these events are free, some do require an admission fee.  Read the information for each event carefully as they all are different.

So, if you've wondered how tall you would be next to a traffic light or what it would feel like to sit in a dump truck or ever wanted to see the inside of a fire truck up close, these events are for you!  Oh, your children would have a blast, too!

A big thanks to Jen for the research on most of these events!

Note:  I've heard that the trucks aren't always "spotless" if you know what I mean, so be prepared to get a little dirty!

From Kid Trips' Facebook Page:  Spring-Mar Cooperative Preschool is hosting a Touch-A-Truck this Sat. at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, Va. The local fire and police department have been kind enough to donate their time and vehicles for the kids to look at. Last year, a helicopter even landing in the parking lot! Kids can get a close up look at fire engines, construction trucks and many other super sized vehicles in a safe, family friendly environment.
From the Town of Herndon, Virginia's website: The Town of Herndon's Department of Public Works hosts its annual "Big Truck Days," an opportunity for children - and their parents - to see the town's big trucks and heavy equipment on display.  Light refreshments will be served and souvenirs will be provided to children.

Big Truck Days will take place Thursday, May 2nd, 9 am - 3 pm and Friday, May 3rd, 9 am - 7 pm at the Public Works Maintenance Complex, 1479 Sterling Road. The event is free; however, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for the needy.  Large groups should call ahead.

Join us for a fun-filled and educational public safety event. There will be a variety of vehicles on display for kids of all ages to explore, and ask questions of their operators and handlers. No rain date.

Touch-a-Truck will take place Saturday, May 18th, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Chantilly Computer Tutoring Space at the Chantilly Regional Library.

From what I can tell, this event is free, but it appears that you need to register.  I can't find where to register, but it says you have to register on this page on the Fairfax County Library website.
This event will be held Saturday, May 18th as well from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm.  There is a $4 entrance fee/person.  In addition to the trucks, families will get to talk with the drivers and enjoy a variety of truck-themed activities and games.
