Thank you all who have been following my page, whether you are a newbie or have been following for a while, I am very thankful for your support! I was wrecking my brain trying to think what I should give as a prize for reaching 100 likes.

Well, as you know, my family loves going to Chick-fil-A for their fun, family events and their yummy food.  So, I figured why not give away a prize that you could use with your family and support a company that I like!

I honestly thought I was going to reach 100 likes before the end of 2013, so I had a Chick-fil-A calendar for the giveaway.  The calendar comes with a promotional card for free food each month ranging from a milkshake to a sandwich and everything in between.  It took a bit longer to hit 100 likes and I didn't get my giveaway up in a timely manner, so I am adding a $10 Chick-fil-A gift card to make up for it!  See below on how to enter to win both!

Last Thanksgiving was hard because it was the first one without my beloved Pap-poo and the last one in her home.  This year was tough because I didn't get to spend Thanksgiving with my parents and niece, Shaba Girl, who moved out of state this summer after Pap-poo's house was sold.  I wholeheartedly believe that God had things work out the way they did, but I wasn't happy with it at first.  I wanted things to go a certain way, but the reality was, Thanksgiving  was going to be different from last year on into the future.  For a variety of reasons, we decided this year that we would host my sister, brother and his wife in our home on Thanksgiving Day.

Papa Bear's work schedule had been crazy and the girls had been sick with fevers in the days prior to Thanksgiving.  I'll admit I felt a bit stressed to pull off a great Thanksgiving for my family plus I was making Pap-poo's stuffing for the first time by myself!  As I stood there making food, the girls watched.  They were so wanting to help, but because they were sick, I didn't let them.  The recipes, techniques and smells brought back many memories of Thanksgivings past.  It was bittersweet.

After several phone calls with my mom, praying and reflecting on 1 Thessalonians 5:18 which is about giving thanks in all circumstances (not just the ones we like) for that is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us all, I started feeling better about things.

Everything worked out for the better.  The stuffing recipes may not have been perfect, but  I mean, come on, our relatives had generations to perfect them! :)  Dinner may have been a bit later than planned, but we had an abundance of food.  The company may not have been the same as in years passed, but the table was surrounded by smiling faces that enjoyed being together.  Isn't that what really matters?

Here are a some pictures of our special Thanksgiving.  I had extra eyes watching me this year--Sugar n Spice our visiting flat travelers and Penguin-E and Penguin-B, our flat travelers who were in between stops.

NATIVITY ADVENT CALENDAR REPAIR
I was surprised when we got our Nativity Advent Calendar to find that FIVE of the Little People figures were missing!  I knew we had lost a couple, but FIVE!?  The girls took them off a lot last year and played with them.  I'm afraid some may have gone missing in the trash can or recycling bin.  I may have found some during the year, but who knows where they are now!  Needless to say, I had to do something, but I wasn't sure how to remedy the problem.  That was until God gave me an awesome idea! (Aren't all of his ideas awesome?)

I used my printer to scan what I knew we were missing:  a wise man, camel and an angel. We guessed at what else was missing and did another dog and cow.  Sweet Girl helped me cut them out, color code the backgrounds and glue the pieces onto some foam.  I "laminated" each piece with packing tape and wrote the number on the back.  We picked up some velcro and VIOLA! the set is now complete!

It felt good to have completed the project as I know how much this calendar means to the girls.  We gave it to Sweet Girl for her first Christmas and have used it every since!
