This Thanksgiving Day was bittersweet because it was the first year I celebrated without Pap-poo and this would be the last Thanksgiving dinner in her house.  My parents did an awesome job in preparing a meal and an atmosphere that would have made Pap-poo proud.  They used a number of her delicious recipes and had the table set with all of her special serving dishes and china.  Sweet Girl thought it was so special to get to drink out of a gold-rimmed glass and both of my girls got to use the china to eat their meals on.

My cousin posted a great link on her Facebook page with Thanksgiving prayers.  Since I knew I was going to be doing the prayer, I checked it out.  There were a lot of nice ones, but I went with this one.
Thanksgiving Dinner Prayer
Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You’ve done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

The dinner went very well and everyone enjoyed the food that was so lovingly prepared.  I ate everything from the creamy mashed potatoes and Dad's homemade gravy to the delectable turkey to the "bird stuffing" to the pumpkin pie and everything in between.

The "Thankful Trees" were a hit.  It was so special to see them all hanging up to create a "Forest of Gratitude" and what a blessing it was to read the specific things everyone was thankful for.  Even Love Bug did one....with a little help.  (I intentionally blurred the photo to respect the privacy of my family members.)

Below are some of my favorite pictures from our two Thanksgiving dinners.

What special memory did YOU make this year?
